DIGITAL CLINIC
Service design & future sensing
School project 2025
5 weeks
Group with Martine Braathen
How can the future Digital Clinic at OUS open up for choice regarding different treatment modalities. Looking at arena flexibility, options for video consulting, screening and evaluation for treatment, AI supported referral and triage. We worked within Steroideprosjektet. Users of Anabolic Androgenic Steroids often want to stay anonymous and prefer digital options as they don’t identify with addiction or the clinic offering treatment. They usually view their use as a form of self help and not as a drug. Many users are people who are in full time jobs and have little time on their hands, some of these users usually figure out that they want to quit their use of AAS at times where services aren't open. The project resulted in an exploration of near future perspective, looking into opening up for more entrances into modular treatment within Anabolic Androgenic Steroids. Ending with a workshop in collaboration with OUS generating opportunities for further exploration and implementation.
During this project I experienced the importance of scoping early on, and how this can help diving deaper into a topic. We decided early on that Steroideprosjektet was a good angeling. During the process we also experienced how challenging it can be to suggest change in a rigid system where the enablers of that change are not present. This tought me the importance of involving the right people at the right time
With the leader of Steroideprosjektet we used the three horizons method to get and understanding of the present, imagine the future and look into the tensions that needs to be addressed between them. She expressed the importance of catching the users in the moment they have the thought of quitting, as well as giving them options for treatment other than going to the clinic for substance abuse.
